If a call or message feels unusual, open Totem and choose your saved contact.

They approve in Totem. Ask them to read the temporary words and compare them with yours.
Both people need Totem and an internet connection. Enable notifications to receive incoming-check alerts.

Totem checks for approval using the credential your contact paired with you, then asks you to compare a fresh phrase. It adds another check when a conversation feels unusual.
A completed check does not guarantee that a request is safe. Stop if you’re being pressured, even when the words match.

Is Totem free?
Yes. This version is a free passion project.
Do both people need it?
Yes. Set up Totem and pair with each other before using it for checks.
Does it listen to calls?
No. You open Totem separately and ask your saved contact for a check.
Does it work automatically?
You start each check yourself. Totem can notify your contact, but they must open it and approve with their passkey.
What if I lose access?
If your passkey provider still gives you access to the same passkey, you can sign in. Otherwise, create a new profile and pair again.
Does a match mean everything is safe?
No. Totem adds a check; it cannot guarantee who controls a device or whether a request is safe. It cannot prevent every form of impersonation or manipulation.
